There are a number of important ways that your
contributions will be put to excellent use - from
volunteering as a mission trip member, to donating a
bottle of vitamins, sponsoring a "value pack" of
prescription medications and equipment, or
sponsoring the trip costs of volunteer or a Peruvian
physician. Here are a few suggestions:
• Prescription Medications (obtained State-Side): We
are able to obtain “value packs” of medications and
medical supplies from special charity organizations,
worth $20,000, while only paying $500 for
administrative costs. We are in need of 10 value
packs.
• Over-the-counter medications and prescription
medications: We need contributions to provide
vitamins, over the counter and prescription
medications to patients. It is much cheaper for us
to purchase large quantities in Peru versus purchase
them here and ship them, although there are some
medications we will need to purchase here in
addition to the value packs.
• Sunglasses: One of the best things we can do for
the eyes of people who live and work at 14-15,000
feet is to provide sunglasses. We would like to take
2000 pair to distribute. Last year we distributed
over 1400 pairs of sunglasses and readers. 13 year
old Bryce Lindsay, a future Eagle scout and teen
volunteer for last year's mission started a program
called "Shades of Love". His project made a huge
impact on the people of Ayaviri.
• Medical Support: $500 will cover the local travel
cost of one of the five Peruvian physicians who have
offered to give up wages from work and fly to
Ayaviri to work with our team. They will serve as
local contacts and for patient follow up. This $500
will fly a physician from the cities of Lima or
Arequipa to Ayaviri, and pay for their lodging and
food during the campaign.
• Procedures costs: There will be surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, generously donating their time and expertise, but we need funds to cover the cost of facilities and associated surgical costs, such as hospital operating rooms, anesthesia, x-rays, and laboratory costs.
• Initial Reservation Costs: We need “seed money”
funds to cover the costs of reserving buses, hotels,
and other associated needs for the mission team.
This mission will not be possible without prayers
and financial support. It is with a humble heart
that we ask for your contribution to this important
campaign. Please prayerfully consider making a tax
deductible, financial donation to help the poor of
Ayaviri in Peru.
Thank you very much in advance for your generosity.
You are in our prayers.
Sincerely, in Christ,
Dede and Ken Chism
